Power Macintosh G3 (B&W)
The Blue and White Power Macintosh G3 replaced the original, beige model in June 1999. At the time, it was the most powerful desktop computer on the market. I got this computer in 2009 as a backup for another one that I had purchased earlier that year. That machine was heavily upgraded and served me well for years before finally calling it quits. I restored this computer to near factory specs with combined parts from both. It features a 400MHz G3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and an ATI Rage 128 graphics card. For storage, it has a 6GB hard drive, 100MB ZIP drive, and a DVD-ROM. I also installed a SCSI hard drive controller for supporting older Macs with SCSI hard drives. Lastly, I was able to track down an original software restore disc for this computer, so it's running a factory installation of Mac OS 8.6. Return to My Computers | Return to Gallery |
