Compaq Presario 5020

Compaq Presario 5020

I rescued this Compaq Presario 5020 from a dusty corner years ago. It was manufactured sometime in 1998 and definitely needed some work. The previous owner had physically trashed the hard drive, the CD-ROM and CDRW drives that were installed refused to read discs, and the floppy drive had a habit of corrupting disks. I installed a 10GB hard drive that I had lying around, a period correct CD-ROM drive, and a replacement floppy drive. I also went ahead and upgraded the RAM to 256MB, added a network card, and performed a clean install of Microsoft Windows 98 SE. It has a 300MHz Intel Celeron and is pretty typical of most late-90s, big-box computers.
